Who might pay for blast damage?

How many citizens of Kamloops heard about the proposal to do a test blast at the Ajax Mine site? A more realistic test blast is needed to monitor vibration and noise.  Actually, several blasts would tell residents near the mine site what they could expect in the future. This letter is commenting on the blasting that was done 15 or more years ago on the land where the Hillside Drive mall with Staples and Chapters is located.

My family lives on the Highway 5 end of Hugh Allan Drive. When the blasting was done at the site my garage floor cracked from one end to the other.

If blasting from Ajax Mine causes any property damage, who will be responsible? Will the provincial government, the City of Kamloops, Ajax Mine, or homeowners pay for property damage?

    ALLAN HAVISTO
