Ten more Kamloops agencies have received community gaming grants for a total of $297,400.
And the recipients are: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kamloops and Region $95,000; Chris Rose Therapy Centre for Autism Society $65,000; Cariboo Child Care Society $29,500; North Kamloops Elk Lodge #469 $27,000; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3453 $20,000; Lions Club of Kamloops - Riverside $19,250; Knights of Columbus #1614 $13,350; Army, Navy and Airforce Veterans Unit 290 - North Kamloops $10,000; Kamloops and District Senior 4-H H Leaders $10,000; Kamloops Chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children $8,300.
The B.C. government also announced a grant of $15,000 from civil forfeiture proceeds to combat bullying in schools.
The money goes to the Roots of Empathy program run by the Kamloops-Thompson school district for children from kindergarten to Grade 8.
Additional instructors will be trained so the program can be expanded to more schools.
