"Put on your best bib and tucker this weekend and check out the 17th annual Kamloops Cowboy Festival. Running until Sunday at the Coast Kamloops Hotel and Conference Centre, the Kamloops Cowboy Festival is known as the biggest and best festival of its kind in Canada. Whether you are a professional cowboy or just want to be one for the weekend, the festival has something for you. Activities include an Art of the West show and sale, Western trade show, Western music, cowboy poetry, educational seminars and an open mike show.

IT'S ABOUT TO GET 'UGLY' AT THE DIRTY JERSEY
There would be somethin' plum wrong with the universe if Kamloops didn't love country music — especially given our ranching heritage and our exceedingly beautiful sage-covered hills, which provide the perfect western backdrop.
So, we're delighted the universe is in perfect form.
How do we know it is? Country music singer Lisa Nicole is coming to town, that's how.
The Kootenays-raised crooner performs Sunday at The Dirty Jersey as part of her It Got Ugly tour with guitarist Jason Thomas.
Be there at 7 p.m. to catch Margit Bull and Rod Bandura of Sweetgrass, and then stay for the big show at 8 p.m.
DID SOMEONE SAY 'WINE FESTIVAL?'
Admit it. You've been waiting all year for the return of the Kamloops Wine Festival. OK, maybe we've been waiting all year, but we're pretty sure we're not alone in this.
The 15th annual festival, which is Kamloops Art Gallery's big fundraiser of the spring, got underway on Friday with an evening of food and wine pairings at The Quaaout Lodge.
If you didn't get a chance to attend, don't worry. The fun continues tonight at The Black Iron Restaurant at Tobiano, on Tuesday at the Fireside Steakhouse and Bar in The Plaza Hotel and on Wednesday at the Commodore Grand Café and Lounge.
From there, the festival stops at Kamloops Convention Centre on Saturday, March 16, for a consumer wine tasting before wrapping up with an event we're particularly exciting about, a multi-course wine dinner Thursday, March 21, with Fairview Cellars at Terra Restaurant.
