Wails the dog has a home with a roof.
The dog was owned by a homeless man who was arrested last month following an incident at the downtown library.
The SPCA and City bylaws had received complaints about the man being abusive toward the dog. The SPCA is investigating.
The dog was held at the City pound while the man faced court dates.
City bylaws supervisor John Ramsay said Monday the man has been jailed and Wails was signed over to a woman who knew him.
She licensed the dog and has taken him to her home.
Ramsay said it’s a happy ending for Wails, as the woman was quite attached to him.
“He’s not homeless. So for us, it’s a good thing,” he said.
The Daily News called the SPCA about the status of its investigation into possible cruelty charges against the previous owner. No one was available to provide an answer by deadline Monday.
