This is a letter to the editor with a bit of “tongue in cheek.” I think a bit of humour is the best approach.
I love cats. I love dogs, and I love any animal in their place. I have a dog that only goes outdoors in our yard. We have had cats too, in the past, (spayed female — they don’t spray). I love my neighbours, we have a wonderful helpful, friendly neighbourhood here in our crescent, one of the best!
But, we have one problem — roaming male cats. Probably all neutered and they spray! Yes, neutered cats can and do spray. There are a few new ones around here, so they are all “marking” their territory outside, on my barbecue cover, on my back steps, up on my porch and on my back door.
Have you ever tried to wash this stuff off? It is very oily and it smells bad. In skunks they use this oil for perfume base (de-scented) because it sticks so well. This, of course, is a problem in neighbourhoods all over the city. So please, please, I beg of you, when you let Mr. Pussy Cat out to roam at large, put a diaper on him!
