TRU game show expected to get messy

Japanese inspired competition to be held on international pie day

Get set for some zany antics as Thompson Rivers University students take part in a Japanese inspired game show on Thursday.

TRU Student Union’s The Club is a new activity group that “seeks to enhance student life with new and invigorating events while testing and experimenting with marketing ideas,” said promotions director Nic Zdunich.

The Club presents the Battle of the Faculties, which enlists students to compete for a cash prize of $500 in a weekly series of on-campus game show events.

The first event happens in the Old Main building — and take heed, it might get messy.

From noon to 12:30 p.m., engineering student Ryan Hawkins, business student Justin Erickson and tourism student Daryl Drodza will be trying to outdo each other in a mystery contest.

They have yet to find out what each event will entail but Zdunich provides a hint.

“The first will challenge their musical wit, the second will let them have their cake and eat it, too, and the third will end off the series with a Japanese-inspired finale.”

The crowd can also get in on it by celebrating international pie day on Thursday, said Zdunich.

“You get the chance to toss a pie at your favourite competitor!”

Hawkins, Erickson and Jacobs will also be rallying for most votes on Facebook. The competitor with the largest social media following will be awarded extra points that could help them win the series.

TRU students can vote for their favourite competitor at www.facebook.com/pages/The-Club/195035760638419.

The winner will be announced at the end of March during a bash at Heroes Pub.
