Three adults and two children are in hospital after a dramatic rollover on a snow laden Coquihalla Sunday night.
Highway conditions were extremely icy at about 7:20 p.m., according to RCMP, when a southbound vehicle plowed through a ditch and drove onto the northbound shoulder.
The mishap caused an oncoming vehicle to lose control and roll over four or five times before landing in the southbound lane three kilometres south of the Ink's Lake brake check.
A woman was ejected during the melee and is now in critical condition. The two injured children were not properly restrained, according to RCMP.
For five hours, the southbound lane was closed to traffic for 15 kilometres from the Highway 1 interchange Kamloops.
Meanwhile a Kamloops police dog searched for other possible victims and traffic collision analysts from Merritt and Kelowna investigated.
Identities and medical conditions of those involved in the crash were not revealed at press time.
