The court case of a bus passenger who posted an altercation with the driver on YouTube began in Kamloops provincial court Friday.
Bradley Smith captured some of the conflict on his tablet during the Dec. 4 incident after the daughter of his landlady became upset over the driver not letting her off.
Smith also repeatedly asked to be let off the bus at a point when the driver had set the back doors so they would remain closed. The dispute was over a missed stop.
After the incident, the driver was suspended without pay during a management investigation. He was reinstated after some refresher training.
Smith, 35, has been charged with mischief and assault.
He represented himself in court Friday while questioning the driver, whose right hand was wrapped up.
Smith played his video in the courtroom and asked the driver about what was taking place. At times, the driver said he disagreed with Smith’s interpretation of the action, or said he couldn’t tell what was on the screen.
