School Strike Looms But Local Talks Not At Issue (The Daily News, Aug. 14). I am with the public school workers and teachers. The problem lies with the politicians in Victoria and Ottawa. They spend an overabundance of the taxpayer’s money on their salaries and travel expenses, and keep decreasing money that should go to senior citizens, health care and the education of our children.
From what I have been reading, the government does not seem to know the meaning of “budget.” I am sure they do know, but let their greed rule their actions. First order of business, raise their own salaries.
A budget (according to Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary) is an estimate, often itemized, of expected income and expenses for a given period in the future. My household was a single-income household, and if I spent my monthly income the way the government spends taxpayer dollars (i.e. me first) I would be labelled “unfit.” We learned early the difference between needs and wants.
There doesn’t seem to be a light at the end of this tunnel.
