Charges of sexual assault will not lead to a trial for a Russian international student.
Defence lawyer John Hogg said the Crown stayed the charge against his client, Anton Marin, because it was not in the public interest to proceed.
Hogg said Marin’s visa is about to expire and he’s returning to Russia. His alleged victim has decided to return to Chile.
The alleged sexual assault occurred on the Thompson Rivers University campus last December. Marin’s trial was to start this week.
