We have adored Reba McEntire since her big-hair days in the 1980s when she was climbing the charts with her honky-tonk hit Can’t Even Get The Blues No More.
Indeed, it’s been a long love affair with the Queen of Country Music.
So, it should really come as no surprise the Reba fans among us were absolutely giddy to learn this week that she would be playing Kamloops on Oct. 11 at Interior Savings Centre.
In the wake of such gleeful excitement, we decided to come up with the top three things we love about Reba.
No. 3 — Her personality
Reba is the perennial darling of the country music scene. You know, there’s a reason she has nine People’s Choice awards from the American Music Awards and more than one million fans on Facebook. She’s a superstar but she radiates a homespun Oklahoma charm that makes you want to sit with her on the porch of an old house, sipping iced tea while you talk about simpler times.
No. 2 — Her talent
Nobody sings quite like Reba. Whether she’s crooning a twangy tune about heartbreak or fighting back with a rocking you-done-me-wrong-now-you-can kiss-off song, she puts just the right measure of emotion into each note. Reba can make you weep for lost love, cheer for renewed love and outright celebrate the strength of women everywhere. And don’t even get us going about her on-screen; we’ve got all six seasons of the Reba on DVD and we’re still smarting over ABC’s cancellation of Malibu Country.
No. 1 — Her mind
Seriously. Reba proves you can be cute and spunky while also being smart and savvy. Her talents go way beyond the music studio and television film set. She proved she had business acumen in 2005 when she launched her own clothing line, REBA. The brand has since expanded to include home furnishings, footwear and luggage. Reba is a smart cookie and she is personally involved in the design of every product.
