Early discharge from RIH is not a new concept, there have been many programs surrounding early discharge and there has been little change made in the statistics (The Daily News, Aug. 23).
Patients that are not acute are called alternate level of care patients. This level of care has been documented and described very clearly by Canadian Institute of Health Information.
The problem lies at the feet of management — they do very little with all the data that has been collected.
Doing more trials at hospitals will give the same information, but little will change when the data is sent to a filing cabinet in a computer.
Do, we want more studies or do we want some action from our high paid administrators?
