Contrary to a letter in your Aug. 27 paper deriding the yarn-bombing display on Victoria Street, I thought the trees all warmed up in their fuzzy covers were a blast, as did my visiting sister-in-law from Calgary.
It also served to bring attention to and to celebrate the B.C. Seniors’ Games in a very humorous and original way!
Good grief. Yes, tree trunks are inherently beautiful — but significantly more numerous than the precious souls who spent untold thousands of collective hours to make the downtown trees smile a little bit, creating thousands of more smiles with them.
I’d even thought maybe we should leave them on over the winter so the trees might better appreciate their warmth! I hope this turns into an annual event.
People who really can’t bear the sight I suspect are the same people who can’t see the forest for the trees!
