The province’s new transportation minister has asked his staff to explore methods that could be used in a review of highway speeds in B.C.
If the review proceeds, it would be the first of its kind in a decade and could result in some speed limits increasing by about 10 km/h, Todd Stone said Tuesday.
“The last major study that was done in British Columbia on speed limits was in 2002-2003,” said Stone.
Stone should know within the next several weeks if the review will occur, he said. If so, the speed limits on major highways will be explored.
