The former developer behind Tobiano resort has been named as a managing partner for real estate opportunities for a holding company.
Michael Grenier, who moved to the region 15 years ago, founded Tobiano at the site of a cattle ranch. He lost control of the project two years ago when it was placed in receivership by mortgage holder Bank of Montreal.
The golf course at the resort was sold to NA Tobiano Management Inc. in May this year. The company named Grenier as golf course manager.
The Tobiano course will now be managed by Don Brett-Davies, former manager of Rivershore Golf Course. A receiver continues to manage the resort itself.
Grenier said he will continue to be based at the resort, where he lives. He will seek out primarily commercial investment opportunity for the firm, which has no B.C. holdings. Parent company North American Development Group has holdings in Edmonton, Toronto, Dallas and Florida.
“It provides an opportunity to review and secure new real estate opportunities in an area where they haven’t been active,” Grenier said.
