I never really cared about photo radar. My philosophy is simple, if you don’t want a ticket, don’t speed. Really that’s all there is to it.
If you are a responsible driver you shouldn’t care about photo radar either. Anyone that is complaining about photo radar being a cash cow is really missing the point of photo radar. If you don’t speed, then the government can’t fine you.
A lot of people said it wasn’t them driving when they got a photo radar ticket. That is a fair argument except that it’s your car and your insurance so it should be you driving it. If you lend it to someone and they get a ticket, well then take that up with that driver, not the courts or ICBC.
I say, bring back photo radar, especially in every school zone, and increase the fines even more. Keep increasing the fines until there is a dramatic drop in speeding tickets, then you will know you’re getting through to drivers.
If you can save even one life by reducing speeding, then it is worth more than all the tickets given out and money collected.
It’s easy to keep money in your pocket, just keep your foot off the gas.
