Two men told a police officer they were attacked with pepper spray during a robbery attempt at about 3 a.m. Wednesday.
The pair, 23 and 37, approached an officer on Lansdowne and said the incident took place in a back alley as a man offered to sell them drugs and asked for money to buy food.
When one of the two took out his wallet, he was pepper sprayed in the face. An attempt was made to pepper spray the other man as well.
The suspect grabbed the wallet and fled. He is described as five feet 11 inches, native, with a black shirt.
The two men were taken to hospital for treatment. Police patrolled the area but could not find a suspect.
