With thousands of square feet of floor space and a prominent spot on one of the busiest corners in Kamloops, the Bookland on Tranquille and Fortune was hard to miss.
After its closure earlier this year, the 8,000-square-foot space wasn’t expected to stay empty for long.
On Oct. 7, a third Kamloops Dollarama location will open its doors. Before the business is ready to receive customers, however, it has to hire the people needed to run it.
To that end, local management is holding a two-week hiring fair to find about 60 people needed for setup. The fair takes place at the store at 750 Tranquille Rd. until Sept. 20.
About 14 employees will end up staying for permanent, full time work.
Local management is not permitted to speak to media. A call to its Quebec-based headquarters was not returned by press time.
Dollarama is the leading dollar store operator in Canada with 800 locations across the country.
Products are sold in individual or multiple units at select fixed price points up to $3.
Currently trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange for a year high of $81.07, Dollarama shares have been as low as $55 over the past year.
