Your recent article regarding the so-called “crashing” of an Ajax mine demonstration was interesting.
A half a dozen students sitting on a Hummer is hardly crashing anything — except maybe the notion that all of today’s young people are environmentally aware.
What could be a more obvious statement than a few future mechanics sitting on what is possibly the least fuel-efficient vehicle ever invented concerned about jobs.
I would submit that there are lots of jobs in the wasteland that used to be Alberta for these guys. The Hummer will fit in nicely with the completely destroyed environment around Fort McMurray and they can wallow in the polluted air and water without fear of anyone threatening their jobs.
When they get sick of that, and I mean “sick,” they will be able to return to a city that has hopefully rejected the proposed Ajax mine and everything that goes with it.
They might even want to stay here.
