On Aug. 17, we hosted the second annual MBK (Michael Benjamin Kirkey) memorial golf tournament at Pineridge Golf Course in Kamloops.
A grand total of $3,000 was raised from the tournament. All proceeds benefit the Dr. E. Murakami Centre for Lyme Research, Education & Assistance Society, which helps provide assistance and treatment to those suffering from Lyme disease worldwide.
There were more than 50 golfers who played and approximately 25 additional people who attended the post-tournament dinner.
The overall winners of the tournament were Team Awesome, which consisted of Bruce Buchanan, Kevin Kierans, Curtis Neville, and Jacquie Kirkey.
The course was in excellent condition and the staff at Pineridge were outstanding and professional.
Dr. Murakami and his team made the trip from Hope to join us for the day, and he was honoured to speak on behalf of his charity at the tournament.
We would like to thank all of the wonderful people and businesses who volunteered, sponsored and donated toward the second annual MBK tournament.
It took many people to help make this day such a success. We could not have done it without all of your help and support. We look forward to doing it again next year for the same great cause.
I would personally like to thank Graeme Hardaker, Vedrana (Veki) Banjac, Kali Holton, and Tara, Bernie and Jacquie Kirkey for all of their help organizing this wonderful tournament in Ben’s memory, and of course to all of the golfers and participants for their tremendous support.
