A new twist on an old trend is hitting Kamloops for a good cause next weekend.
On Saturday and on Oct. 17, locals will line up to get a streak of hot pink through their hair to help fight breast cancer.
Jonni’s Styling Studio and Kamloops YMCA are partnering to “Paint the City Pink,” aiming to raise awareness of the disease and raise funds that will go to the Royal Inland Hospital cancer clinic.
“Last year, Paint the City Pink raised and donated over $2,000 to the RIH Cancer Clinic and the team has high hopes to not only well-exceed last year’s donation, but to make the event a yearly Kamloops tradition,” said studio owner Jonni Yeomans.
For a donation, Yeomans and stylists Janice Caravan and Michael Bigam will offer the public a choice of a temporary vegetable-based dye, a pink hair extension or a pink feather on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the studio at 147 Victoria St. above Peter’s Pasta.
And repeat the deed or bring a friend to the North Shore YMCA on Oct. 17 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
No appointment is necessary.
