I wish to add my comments to a previous letter about cats and leashes.
I totally agree that if dogs must be on leashes, then cats should, too.
In addition, cats should also have to be licensed — just like dogs. Owners should have to show proof of spaying or neutering as well as vaccinations.
The added revenue derived from licensing cats could be put to good use by the
local bylaw office or SPCA.
For far too many years, felines have been allowed to prowl, poop and spray wherever they choose. Cat feces is full of disease that can easily be passed on to humans.
By cat owners finally being responsible pet owners, there would be less strays and unwanted animals filling up the SPCA’s cages and bothering property owners.
Leashing and licensing — both long overdue.
