A public forum on the proposed Ajax Mine, sponsored by the TRU Faculty Association, will consider how the development might affect tourism.
The forum takes place Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Alumni Theatre of the TRU Clocktower Building.
Rob Hood and John Hull of the university's tourism management faculty will speak at the forum.
The event will question whether the mine is compatible or in conflict with the long-held vision for Kamloops as the Tournament Capital of Canada with potential for tourism growth.
Critics of the mine proposal have consistently argued that the scale and proximity of the operation would adversely affect the tourism sector.
Hood is an expert in rural tourism and community development among other specialties. Hull's focus is strategic planning and management as well as community-based tourism development.
The event is free.
