I recently sent an email to the mayor of Kamloops and to City councillors after reading a headline in The Daily News. (Heavy Industry Wants In On Tax Talks).
On May 29, the Globe and Mail stated that Domtar made a $272-million diaper deal for the acquisition of Associated Hygienic Products. Almost two years ago, Domtar agreed to pay $315-million, including $100 million in debt assumptions to acquire Attends.
Please explain to me why Domtar is entitled to any tax breaks when they are able to
afford this level of expansion.
It is not fair that Kamloops citizens have to bear the burden of increased taxes due to tax breaks to multimillion-dollar corporations.
I await a reply.
