The Kamloops and District Humane Society is showing off a plethora of kittens up for adoption at Petland on Notre Dame Road on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m.
All of them are nine to 12 weeks old, all are spayed or neutered and all have been vaccinated, dewormed and tattooed.
Among the kittens available are some fluffy black and whites, a multi-toed, a blue-eyed white kitten, a Himalayan and a Siamese.
Seniors get their day on Tuesday
The City is celebrating its elders Tuesday for National Seniors Day with a tea social that also includes demonstration activities.
From 9 a.m. to noon, the place for seniors to be is the Tournament Capital Centre, where those who helped build the country and the community will be honoured.
Mayor Peter Milobar and Coun. Pat Wallace will give an official welcome at 10 a.m.
Seniors can try out tai chi, pickleball and table tennis. There will also be information booths for Interior Health, United Way, the Seniors Advisory Committee and Keep on Moving.
Burn survivor will inspire at this year’s Ladies Diamond Dinner
Heidi Cave’s car was hit by a speeding reckless driver in 1998. The crash killed her best friend and she was in a coma with burns to 52 per cent of her body.
She also lost both legs, but never lost her determination.
Now she’s a wife, mother, motivational speaker and author. And she’s speaking at this year’s sixth annual Ladies Diamond Dinner on Friday, Nov. 15.
Tickets are now on sale for the charitable event that raises money for the Burn Fund Centre. While based in Vancouver, the centre helps burn and trauma survivors from all over B.C.
The fundraiser is sponsored by the Coast Kamloops Hotel and Conference Centre and the Kamloops Firefighters Charitable Society. The dinner, which includes wine and food prepared by executive chef Romeo Oloresisimo, will be served at the Coast Conference Centre with live music and a silent auction.
Oh, and although it’s a “ladies” event, there will be some men on hand — Kamloops firefighters.
Tickets are $80, attendees must be 19 or older and the dinner runs from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets can be bought at Prestons Restaurant & Lounge located in the Coast Kamloops Hotel & Conference Centre. Anyone buying a group of 10 tickets gets one of them for free.
