In regards to the banner; I don’t like the banner and I am pretty thankful at least one councillor has the guts to stick up and at least question the message.
That banner targets a group of people and sends a message of what that group of people SHOULD do. It is completely unnecessary for it to fly high above the streets of Kamloops.
Can I make one to stick up next week: Abortion: Go For It.
I bet people wouldn’t like that.
How about: Men: Keep it in your pants?
The fact is the law makes it a choice.
And yes, you can argue at any stage of development the fetus is a person. But that is within a woman’s body and the law in Canada allows it to be the woman’s choice.
So, I do not see any reasons whatsoever for a banner to try to tell me one way or another what I should choose to do with a decision of life.
And if they want a Charter argument, I could come up with one easily.
And to those who want to condemn me with your pro-life letters, save your time, I get it. I’ll go drive under the banner again and remind myself on your stance.
But just a question, what are you doing to help the one in seven children in Canada living in poverty?
