My friend and I went for a beer and wings on a recent night at the Fox ‘n’ Hounds.
The waitress said, “I hate sharing news like that.” I said, “What?”
She said, “The couple beside you, the other couple with them bought their drinks.”
I said to the couple, joking, of course, “OK, pay it forward, they bought yours, you buy ours, that’s how it works.”
We laughed and talked a few minutes. She said the day before she had given some hockey tickets to a man and his son that couldn’t afford to go, she knew them from her paper route. I said, “See, it paid forward.”
They left. We had another beer, asked the waitress for our bill — yes, you got it, they paid for our first round of drinks.
There are still so many good people out there. We often complain about our lives and people, but when something like that happens, it fills you with love for mankind.
Thank you to that kind couple for that. You made my night.
And yes, I will pay it forward, I promise.
