This year’s World Breastfeeding Week celebration in Kamloops is themed Breastfeeding Support: Close to Mothers, with a focus on the importance of helping mothers succeed.
Interior Health is encouraging breastfeeding mothers and their supporters to get out to events throughout the area during the week.
The more women succeed in breastfeeding their babies, the healthier their children will be. The World Health Organization recommends breastfeeding only for babies for their first six months of life, and then with solid foods for up to two years or more.
World Breastfeeding Week is being marked from Oct. 1 to 7.
In Kamloops, the Quintessence Breastfeeding Celebration is taking place Saturday at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 360 Nicola St.
