This letter does not pertain to any ongoing issues in the paper, that I know of.
However, it is about a person that many residents in this town would recognize.
While catching the bus home two nights ago, I got in a conversation with a homeless man, and he told me about his friend Carl who had passed away.
Carl was a homeless man who used to frequent Valleyview; many people there would have seen Carl with his usual baseball cap and buggy.
He was one of the nicest people I have ever had the good fortune of meeting. He was always nice, and never openly went around asking people for a handout.
Carl was a very nice man who had fallen on hard times. I know that to some, he may have just seemed a dirty homeless person. However, it does not matter, he was still a person, therefore he deserves to have something nice said about him.
I obviously cannot give a full obituary for Carl, but what I do want to say is, Carl was a lovely man who, whenever I saw him, was chatting it up with or wandering the streets of Valleyview like a kind of aluminum collecting watchdog.
