I am responding to the Oct. 1 cartoon that attempts to satirize climate scientists.
It is obvious that neither the cartoonist nor the KDN editorial staff have yet grasped the difference between weather and climate.
Weather refers to day-to-day temperature and precipitation activity. Climate refers to the average atmospheric conditions over much longer periods of time.
And, yes, climate change is occurring —largely due to our (humans in industrialized nations) impact. Read the 2013 IPCC report www.climat change 2013.org/
For further clarification, I suggest the first chapter of Dr. Andrew Weaver’s book Keeping Our Cool (available at public libraries).
