The monkeys are running the zoo!
The latest plan by the government of the day is to scrap many run-of- river hydro projects in B.C. and basically gut the Clean Energy Act, which mandated 80 per cent of all new energy purchased by B.C. Hydro be green.
The process for energy to qualify for green status in difficult to say the least, 52 permits, studies and pre-development cost encumber these projects.
The mandate has swung from green to brown, with government promotion now focused on LNG and the oilsands.
I really can’t believe we are going to continue going backward.
The green energy movement, of which I have been a part for more than 10 years, was just starting to gain ground.
For the energy minister to basically walk in and literally undo 10 to 15 years of good work for independent clean energy is nothing short of insanity.
Yes, B.C. Hydro needs to trim the bloated salaries and get control of the power theft that is happening all over this province due to grow-ops, but not by destroying an industry that was helping move us into power independence.
I am literally stunned and outraged by the lack of leadership that potentially will destroy an entire made-in-B.C. success story. Shame.
