St. Ann’s Academy elementary students received a banner on Wednesday from the Kamloops Library, recognizing their first-place standing in the library’s summer reading club. The library keeps track and records registrations from each school, then tallies the number of children who participate at least once. Overall, every school had higher participation than in 2012, a promising trend. This is the fifth consecutive first-place finish for St. Ann’s.
Pink highlights, anyone?
If you weren’t part of Paint the City Pink on the first go-round, it’s not too late to get your hair highlighted. Jonni’s Styling Studio and the Kamloops Y teamed up again for the fundraiser in support of breast cancer awareness and CIBC Run for the Cure last weekend. For a donation to the cause, participants get pink streaks (vegetable-based dye), pink extensions or pink feathers. They are $1,200 toward their goal of equaling last year’s effort and invite more participants on Oct. 17, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the North Shore Y. No appointment is necessary.
