Open fires are permitted again within the Kamloops Fire Centre.
As of noon Tuesday, open burning is allowed in all fire zones within the Kamloops Fire Centre due to a reduce risk of wildfire.
This means the public can burn waste, slash and grass, or use fireworks or burning barrels of any size.
The rescinded ban applies to all B.C. parks, Crown lands and private lands but does not apply within municipal boundaries.
Open burning is not allowed in the City of Kamloops except with a permit on properties of one acre or more during the months of April and October.
Otherwise, anyone considering lighting an open fire should first check with civic authorities.
Anyone who wishes to light a category three fire — an open fire larger than two metres high and three metres wide, or grass over an area greater than 0.2 hectares — must obtain a burn registration number by calling 1-888-797-1717. Violators are subject to fines.
