The NorKam Saints had plenty to be thankful for on the weekend as the junior girls volleyball team took home the gold medal at its annual tournament at NorKam secondary.
NorKam prevailed over the Valleyview Vikings in three sets (25-18, 16-25, 15-7) in the championship match on Saturday and the Sa-Hali Sabres defeated the South Kamloops Titans (25-9, 25-8) in the bronze-medal match.
The Westsyde Whundas finished in fifth place.

The South Kamloops Titans finished ahead of 39 others teams in the UBC-Okanagan senior girls volleyball tournament to capture gold on the weekend.
The Titans finished second in their pool with a 2-1 record and defeated the Terrace-Caledonia Kermodes in a cross-over match (25-11, 25-13) to advance to the quarterfinals.
The Titans went on to defeat the Prince George-College Heights Cougars in a quarterfinal (25-21, 25-20) and needed a third set to get past the Kelowna Owls in the semifinal (25-22, 23-25, 15-8).
In the gold-medal match, tournament all-stars Kathleen Leonard and Sydney Nielsen, along with tournament MVP Mieke DuMont, led the Titans over the Kelowna Christian Knights in a nail-bitting three set match (21-25, 25-23, 15-13).

Kelly Olynyk of Kamloops had 15 points and six rebounds for the Boston Celtics in Saturday’s 111-81 NBA preseason victory over the New York Knicks in Macherster, N.H.
He also had three steals and a block for the Celtics, who scored the first ten points of the game and never trailed.
