An Oct. 9 article by Cam Fortems (Land Conservancy Files for Protection) correctly summarized my view that conservation properties currently owned by The Land Conservancy are not at risk of being sold to developers; and that such an action would place the entire land conservancy movement in jeopardy.
The article, however, went on to state that $133,000 fundraised by the conservancy and local residents is now held by the Kamloops Community Foundation.
This is not the case. Part of that money was put toward land acquisition for a wildlife corridor linking the two southern arms of Wells Gray Park, while the rest remains with The Land Conservancy. Fundraising for the Wells Gray project is ongoing.
