A Sahali man who's had two flags taken from his yard within a week wants residents to know someone is up to no good in the neighbourhood.
What troubles Trent Jakubec the most isn't the loss of his flags - a pumpkin flag and a Kamloops Blazers flag - but that the culprits ventured into his backyard to take them.
"They were literally at our back door," he said Saturday.
The pumpkin flag disappeared just after Thanksgiving. Jakubec decided to replace it with one representing his hometown hockey team.
He hanged the Blazers flag up Friday night while emptying the pool. It and the pole it was attached to were gone in the morning. Jakubec found footprints on his patio table.
"They obviously stood up, pulled it off, and walked away with it," he said.
"It's like, come on people, seriously? They didn't even take the lawn ornaments."
Jakubec made a report to RCMP, which is investigating. He said police are treating this as a case of mischief.
He's decided to bolt all three gates to his Bestwick Drive backyard and won't put up another flag. Jakubec wants his neighbours to know mischief-makers are at work in the area.
"It's bored people walking around with nothing to do," he said.
