It took 48 shots on goal and an overtime period but the Kamloops Storm got the job done, defeating the Chase Heat 6-5 in a KIJHL game on Sunday.
Addison Bazian scored the winner one minute and 15 seconds into the first overtime period.
Kamloops took the first lead of the game when Max James followed up his Friday night hat trick with a power-play marker. The Heat evened things up four minutes later on a goal from
Cody Hodges but gave Kamloops another opportunity on the power play and watched it take the lead again off the stick of Daniel Buchanan.
In the second, Luke Gordon scored to extend the Storm’s lead to 3-1, before Connor Venne scored two goals in two minutes to knot things back up. With just one second remaining in the second period Spencer Schoech scored for the Storm.
Midway through the third, Felix Larouche put the Storm ahead 5-3 and seemed to have sealed the deal, but Kurtis Johnson and Kaleb Boyle scored for Chase to tie the game with just less than five minutes remaining.
