The Sa-Hali Sabres senior boys volleyball team had some ups and downs in its tournament at TRU on the weekend.
The Sabres split their matches on Friday, beating the Oliver-South Okanagan Hornets in straight sets before losing in straight sets to the Vernon-Clarence Fulton Maroons.
The Friday split allowed the Sabres to qualify for Saturday’s championship round, where they suffered losses to the Surrey-Earl Marriott Mariners (25-19, 25-18) and the Penticton-Princess Margaret Mustangs (25-16, 25-20).
In their last match of the 24-team tournament, the Sabres beat the Vernon Christian Royals (25-19, 31-29).

The NorKam Saints senior boys soccer team saw both ends of the spectrum Saturday, splitting two games on McArthur Island.
The Saints scored their victory in a 3-0 match against the Kelowna-Rutland Voodoos, with Brennan Atamanchuk, Levon Bolt and Jeff Tulliani all scoring.
Their second game was a 3-2 loss at the hands of the West Kelowna-Mount Boucherie Bears, with the Bears netting the go-ahead goal with less than a minute remaining in the match. Bolt and Jacob Henderson were on the scoresheet for the Saints.

The Spence siblings of the Kamloops River City Racers brought home five first-place finishes from the the Mission interclub short track speed skating competition.
Sara Spence was the first to cross the line in all three of her races in the women’s junior A division — she skated in the 500 metres, the 1,000m and the 1,500m.
Eric Spence, who skated in the men’s junior B division, finished first in the 500m and 1,500m, and brought home second in the 1,000m.
