Other than being $20 million richer, not much has changed for Peter Mueller.
The 68-year-old Lotto 6/49 winner from Revelstoke said he has no big plans other than a vacation and a new car.
"I want to go to Mexico and sit on the beach and think about it."
He was presented with a cheque Friday afternoon at the B.C. Lottery Corp. building in Kamloops with a throng of reporters and a cafeteria full of employees on hand to witness the event.
Mueller said he first had an inkling Thursday morning that he might be a winner. So he decided to stop in Vernon to change his oil and check the ticket.
"I heard in the morning on the news that someone in Revelstoke had won so all the way down to Vernon I think maybe it's me. And I checked and there it was," he said.
"I was just shocked. You think it never happens to you."
Mueller has been retired for five years. He has no close family or friends to share the money with.
"You will have a lot of new friends," one reporter suggested.
"I hope not," he replied.
