It is very unfortunate that The Daily News would choose to publish a letter to the editor on Oct. 29 with a broad-brush characterization of all defence lawyers as “liars.”
Kamloops is served by just under 200 dedicated, professional men and women who became lawyers in order to make a difference in their community. They have dedicated years of their lives to gaining the education and experience to allow them to provide the best possible legal services available anywhere in the province, and they have chosen to live and work in Kamloops in order to serve the people who live here.
As a reputable paper that covers court news, you already know that lawyers are held to a higher standard as officers of the court, and your reporters see every day the exceptional work of Kamloops lawyers in action. Those same lawyers deserve a similar high standard of journalistic integrity and editorial support from their local paper.
