I have 37-plus years of employment at Highland Valley Copper. Depending where you work at the mine, it can be a little dusty or it can be extremely dusty.
Ajax cannot control all the dust the proposed mine will produce.
On any dry day — even in the winter — there will be dust.
It was about -5C at work on Monday morning when I was driving my pickup around the pit. The dust was almost a Kamloops city block long behind me.
Hey, the wages are good at the mines and the mines are good for the economy, but so far, nobody has said that they would guarantee there will be no environmental or health issues for the Aberdeen and the
Pineview residents or offer any guarantee that properties will not go down in value.
Can anyone give us that guarantee?
If I lived in Sahali or the North Shore, then I’d say sure, go ahead with Ajax.
The proposed mine is just too close for my liking.
I have seen it all in 37-plus years at my workplace, but that’s OK, it’s about 80 kilometres away from Kamloops.
Please say no to Ajax, or just give us those guarantees and we’ll all be happy.
