Two seniors advocacy groups join forces

Two seniors advocacy groups with almost 75 years history in Kamloops have announced they're joining forces under a new banner.

The board of directors of River City Seniors Society and Kamloops and District Seniors Outreach Services have disbanded.

The two groups will reform as ONCORE Central Services.

Suzan Goguen, executive director of ONCORE, said amalgamation will provide more support for seniors and increase co-ordination of services.

The new agency will have more than 45 staff.

Services include information and referral, emergency suites, affordable housing, elder abuse outreach support, independent living supports and income tax assistance.
