Column on seniors' issues hits close to home

In response to Mel’s great column on Thursday.

My husband has a joke. What is the difference between a recession and a depression? A recession is when your neighbour has lost his house; a depression is when you have lost yours.

For years I heard about “limited incomes” and “living on a pension” and it never concerned me. When we were in business we were far too concerned with a million other matters that were more relevant than pensions.

Having been retired now for close to seven years, my husband’s joke hits close to home and Mel’s thought provoking column hits the nail on the head.
