Minor injuries after collision

A layer of fresh snow is to blame for a head-on collision that sent one motorist to hospital with an injured hand, RCMP said.

The vehicles collided in the eastbound lane of Battle Street as it approaches Valleyview at about 10 p.m. Sunday, said Staff Sgt. Fran Bethell.

Bethell said the driver of a westbound vehicle became confused by fresh snow on the road and ended up in the eastbound fast lane. An oncoming vehicle crested a hill and neither driver could avoid the collision.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to significant damage.
