Team Pacific picked up its first victory Monday at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Nova Scotia.
Pacific, featuring Kamloops’ Nick Chyzowski and Kevin Davis, defeated Team West 6-3 in North Sydney. Pacific, comprising players from B.C. and Alberta, had lost 4-3 to Quebec in its Sunday opener.
Pacific scored four times in the first period and twice more in the third in defeating West, featuring players from Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Matteo Gennaro, with two, Giorgio Estephan, Tyler Benson, Brad Morrison and Tyler Soy scored for Pacific. Davis, a defenceman for the Everett Silvertips, picked up two penalty minutes, while Chyzowski, a forward with the Kamloops Blazers, was held off the scoresheet.
Pacific is scheduled to take today off before meeting Czech Republic on Wednesday and Sweden on Thursday. The tournament will wrap up Saturday.

The Kamloops Track and Field Club is offering a 40 per cent discount on registration for the remainder of the indoor season.
The discount will apply to junior-development, 13, midget, youth, junior and senior athletes who begin training in January. Masters athletes’ fees will drop to $150.
