Hearing set for arson, manslaughter charges

A man facing manslaughter and arson charges in the death of a Kamloops woman in a rooming-house fire last spring faces an arraignment hearing next week.

David Peter Gordon made a brief appearance by video in provincial court on Thursday for that purpose, but a lawyer requested a postponement on behalf of defence counsel Ken Tessovitch.

Gordon, who was 32 at the time of the incident, was a tenant in the rooming house. He remains in custody at KRCC.

Cheryl William, a cook at Sk’elep School of Excellence, was found unconscious following the fire in the 900 block of St. Paul Street on April 25, 2013. She died from her injuries five days later.
