That's it! It's official!!
The elves finally came out of the counting room for the last time.
The head elf has counted, recounted and then counted again. The donations finally have stopped rolling in and she has passed along the final numbers.
In our 12th year of being here, you gave The Daily News Christmas Cheer Fund $89,575.70, and we now are in the process of getting it into the hands of the five local charities that were chosen to benefit this time around.
Later this month, cheques will end up in the hands of the Kamloops Food Bank, the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home, the New Life Mission, the Kamloops United Church's PIT Stop program, and the YMCA-YWCA Y Women's Shelter.
As well, the charities will be getting out tax receipts to donors before the Feb. 28 deadline.
That means that in our time here, you have handed over $667,714.68.
Only the 2012 campaign brought in more cash — $101,261.30 — but, hey, who's counting?
Thank you all for being here and here's hoping we get to do this again.
