Fifteen-year-old girl suffers broken arm during arrest by the RCMP

DELTA, B.C. - Police in Delta, B.C., have been called in to investigate an incident in which a 15-year-old girl suffered a broken arm while being arrested by the Mounties in Prince Rupert.

The incident happened April 4 when RCMP officers were called to a home and told the girl wanted to kill herself.

She was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and then arrested for allegedly
    assaulting a police officer.

    That's when she was injured.

The officer involved was not hurt.

The Delta Police have been asked to conduct an independent investigation into the incident and have notified the Office of the Police Complaints Commissioner that they're doing so.
