    Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

    TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

    Toronto Stock Exchange (12,237.75, up 91.90 points):

    Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up 13 cents, or 1.48 per cent, at $8.89 on 7,855,710 shares.

    Cline Mining Corp. (TSX:CMK). Miner. Up 12 cents, or 12.9 per cent, at $1.05 on 7,445,454 shares.

    Precision Drilling Corp. (TSX:PD). Oil and gas. Down 26 cents, or 2.77 per cent, at $9.11 on 6,425,399 shares.

    TransGlobe Apartment REIT (TSX:TGA.UN). Real estate. Down three cents, or 0.21 per cent, at $14.24 on 5,544,392 shares.

    Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Up 74 cents, or 3.81 per cent, at $20.18 on 4,350,861 shares.

    Eldorado Gold Corp. (TSX:ELD). Miner. Up 10 cents, or 0.71 per cent, at $14.09 on 4,312,286 shares.

    TSX Venture Exchange (1,412.76, up 19.52 points):

    Trelawney Mining and Exploration Inc. (TSXV:TRR). Miner. Up 95 cents, or 40.95 per cent, at $3.27 on 54,552,556 shares.

    Pinecrest Energy Inc. (TSXV:PRY). Oil and gas. Up 15 cents, or 6.12 per cent, at $2.60 on 9,069,345 shares.

    Companies reporting major news:

    Air Canada (TSX:AC.B). Airline. Up 13 cents, or 15.66 per cent, at 96 cents on 2,015,862 shares. Air Canada is set to resume negotiations with the union that represents its 8,600 mechanics, baggage handlers and cargo agents, the country's largest airline announced Friday. The 10 days of scheduled talks with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers will be conducted with the help of an arbitrator.

    TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP). Oil and gas. Up six cents, or 0.14 per cent, at $43.19 on 1,192,662 shares. TransCanada confirmed Friday that the company is in the early stages of weighing a plan to ship Western Canadian crude to eastern refineries that currently rely on expensive imports from overseas. Eastern Canadian refiners have asked TransCanada whether it's feasible to send Western Canadian crude their way so that they don't have to buy a raw product based on higher international prices.

    TMX Group (TSX:X). Stock exchange. Up $1.95, or 4.56 per cent, at $44.70 on 1,175,822 shares. Maple Group Acquisition Corp. says it's open to extending its $3.8-billion takeover deal for TMX Group past Monday's deadline, but only if it's satisfied with progress on several fronts — including regulatory hurdles.
