    Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

    TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

    Toronto Stock Exchange (11,871.23, down 143.66 points):

    Viterra Inc. (TSX:VT). Grain-handler. Up three cents, or 0.19 per cent, at $15.93 on 6,579,051 shares.

    Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Down six cents, or 1.47 per cent, at $4.02 on 6,279,402 shares.

    Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Oil and gas. Down $1.13, or 3.61 per cent, at $30.19 on 5,627,304 shares.

    Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (TSX:CNQ). Oil and gas. Down $1.23, or 3.73 per cent, at $31.71 on 5,460,333 shares.

    Cline Mining Corp. (TSX:CMK). Miner. Down nine cents, or 9.28 per cent, at 88 cents on 4,277,710 shares.

    Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Insurer. Down 33 cents, or 2.54 per cent, at $12.65 on 4,251,583 shares.

    TSX Venture Exchange (1,405.10, down 11.43 points):

    Contact Exploration Inc. (TSXV:CEX). Oil and gas. Up 0.5 cents, or 3.85 per cent, at 13.5 cents on 5,444,365 shares.

    Brixton Energy Corp. (TSXV:BRX). Oil and gas. Up two cents, or 133.33 per cent, at 3.5 cents on 3,730,466 shares.

    Companies reporting major news:

    SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. (TSX:SNC). Engineering. Down 58 cents, or 1.55 per cent, at $36.73 on 608,488 shares. SNC faces the threat of work stoppage from Candu Energy employees after union votes to strike, would come less than a year after it acquired the nuclear division from the federal government.

    Heroux-Devtek (TSX:HRX). Aerospace engineering. Down 35 cents, or 4.05 per cent, at $8.30 on 14,024 shares. The landing gear manufacturer will create 50 new jobs after receiving $6.2 million of financial support from the Quebec government.
